AIR WAVES PLAY THE DOG & PARROT ON THURSDAY

without comments

Brooklyn-based indie outfit Air Waves play The Dog & Parrot this Thursday with support from O’ Messy Life and Dick Bull.

“Getting excited for AIR WAVES this Thursday at The Dog & Parrot. Really loving their indie pop; softly tropical and cosy without being overly twee or hackneyed. Vivian Girls confirmed that these guys are indeed some of their favourite musical neighbors in Brooklyn and Dan Deacon agrees too. Of course, though; such homely and slightly euphoric jangly guitar pop!” (PRMNT VIBES)

“The Air Waves song that goes by the name of “Waters,” is a terrific introduction to the kind of scene that singer Nicole Schneit wants to depict with her band, Air Waves. Her words are on wheels, bounding over a haunting and bumpy roll of guitar strumming, lazily taking their place right where they need to be – sidled up to the feeling that everything told is a silhouette of a wayward daydream of average issues, coming from a paper heart that’s been shredded by a thoughtless somebody.” (Daytrotter)

Definitely not to be missed.

FOOT VILLAGE PLAY THE HEAD OF STEAM

without comments

Anthemic Californian quartet Foot Village play The Head Of Steam on November 11 in association with PRMNT VIBES. Support comes from James Allen’s Circuit Music and Shift-static. Here’s what the promoters have to say about the bands:

FOOT VILLAGE are a four-piece from los angeles who craft hyper energetic DIY anthems out of four drum kits and HEAPS OF SHOUTING. sometimes their drums come out sounding like guitars but usually it’s just chaos of the funnest sort, real wild and colourful, which explains why they fit right at home playing with the likes of HEALTH, No Age, Abe Vigoda, Vivian Girls etc. Yeah, there’s a lot of drumming and screaming but tonnes of laughing with liberal politics to boot.

JAMIE ALLEN’s CIRCUIT MUSIC
is the freaked out electronic tinkerings of this local experimentalist, crafting super energized beats/notbeats out of some weird-ass suitcase/lightbox contraption. HOLY CRAP!

SHIFT-STATIC bring a more linear edge to an evening of rainbow tectonics with their loop/sample backed soft indie rock, lots of strange ambience coming out of these chords.”
