ONE TO WATCH: VIVIAN GIRLS @ THE CLUNY
Named after outsider artist Henry Darger‘s posthumous fantasy manuscript The Story of the Vivian Girls, in What is known as the Realms of the Unreal, of the Glandeco-Angelinnian War Storm, Caused by the Child Slave Rebellion, this Brooklyn-based trio unleashes incendiary bubblegum-punk cranked to breaking point with little more than guitar, bass, drums and a distortion pedal. Signed to LA-based indie label In The Red Records, the band’s limited edition debut LP sold out in ten days and became an instant sensation among New York’s tastemakers.
